It's funny, but up until know I never thought that the four seasons would have any effect on cholesterol levels. In the warmer months we tend to do all activities then, from jogging, swimming and walking, while during the colder months, which sometimes feel like they will never end, we tend to stay indoors where we can snuggle up to a warm fire or put layers of clothing on.Also the Christmas season can effect cholesterol levels with all the sugar and buttery flavored treats that are baked and although we tell ourselves not to eat too many of these goodies we just can't seem to resist. We can however do the activities in the colder months that we do in the warmer months.Swimming is the best way to bring down cholesterol levels along with walking, briskly mind you, will get the heart pumping and it is easy on the joints, but if you prefer to go jogging then that's just as good. Will power is a great motivational way of keeping levels down, by not eating all the shortbread cookies all at once, but to have one or two can possibly help in lowering blood levels and as I wrap up writing this article I will put my boots and my winter coat on just not only for my cholesterol but for the fresh air alone. You see I have high cholesterol and I go swimming three days a week, I walk, and as much as I love those shortbread cookies, I make sure that I only have one or two.Yes, it can be hard to be good, but my will power is greater now then it has ever been. You need to exercise all year long and since there are so many ways to exercise you should not get bored doing the same thing all the time.I, unfortunately take medication for my cholesterol but my doctor is taking me off to see if I can keep those levels where they should be.Enjoy the seasons and make the best of a bad situation and get out and enjoy the fresh air!
