The role of religion in foreign policy

There is one word to answer what the role of religion should be in foreign policy and that word is respect. The only reason it should even be brought up into conversation with foreign policy is to form an understanding that other countries have other religions and so we need to respect that.

I really feel that the lack of respect for other religions with The United States' foreign policy for the past few years has really hindered our stance in the world as a good diplomatic power. Our image, which once used to be a group of people who knew what they were talking about and may I add, actually wanted to talk it out, has now turned into the much hated "world police."

This is not good foreign policy. This is not good for religion. If the "world police" can man up and understand and except that not everybody is going to be exactly like them and also is not going to change their ways for them I think foreign policy would be much better off.

So, the role of religion in foreign policy is respect. If you respect me, I'll respect you, and then we can get the real work that needs to be done instead of arguing over an age old misunderstanding. The idea of respect not only can be used to better the role of religion in foreign policy but it could be used right here in our home soil of America. A lot more could get done with a little respect.
