Daniel the Stylite did as was requested of him and spent the remaining 33 years of his life perched upon one of 3 pillars (this is how he got the name Stylite from the Greek word "stylos" meaning pillar). From Daniels Pillars he healed the sick, foretold premonitions and advised the rulers of the country. Saint Daniels feast day is celebrated in the 11th of December.
