Some politicians need money to advertise themselves. A partial funding from the government to fund election campaigns could even the playing field. Too often the spoils go the richest candidate and not the best. If we could help even out the odds there's a better chance the better person would win.

Many would argue this is a waste of money but it is not actually. If the government took the time to equalize campaign contributions elections would be a little more honest. This system would need some balances such as campaign contribution limits and minimal subsidies. This money should go to the underdogs.

Everyone has a dream of being an underdog, over coming insurmountable odds. Lets take down these barriers and give politicians a chance to be themselves. We need to stop this popularity contest for more money. The best thing to do would be to require any money given to be given back if the candidate loses.

When the government funding of elections is optional only those who need it will use it. And even though the proposition of losing money wouldn't scare the rich the limit on campaign could save us millions. If the system were perfect candidates would be required to be voted into candidacy without campaigns and then be given a set amount of dollars.

Lets redesign the political system from the candidates up.
