Some people may tell you that kids don't have a say in the dating practices of their parents, but I have to disagree. There is a lot you can learn from the thoughts and feelings of your teenager or even your preschooler. Sometimes we are blinded by the person we are dating and can't see things someone from outside the relationship can see. So when my children have something to say, I'm proud to tell you, I listen!

I've dated before without getting my dates kid approved and it turned out to be a mess. My oldest was unhappy with my choice and no matter how much I cared for the other person, I care what my child thinks and feels more.

Think about it. Let's say you marry someone your children don't like. That makes for some pretty messed up Holidays in your future, not to mention all the other days in between! Who wants that? Not me or anyone else I know.

A lot of people say they don't want to introduce their dates to their kids. I think kids are the best at judging character at times. After all, who is going to tell you straight up how they feel about another person besides your child? OK, maybe your Mother, Sister or best friend.

Sure it makes it harder on you to find someone to share your life with but in the long run, it's best to take into account what your kids think and feel about the person who may in the end be someone that shares the breakfast table with them as well as Mom's or Dad's attention.
