Although spiritually, ethically, whateverlly you want to call it, saying a society's progress should be measured on it's wealth is wrong, it's not as bad as it sounds. Bear with me for a few seconds, there's a light switch halfway down this tunnel. The spartans are a good example of a strong society. Mentally, spiritually and physically the spartans were top five with anybody. They had the strongest soldiers, beautiful women and strong family values. However, we all know that the weak link in there chain was their inability or refusal to make profit. Knowledge, strength, beautiful lands, all that meant nothing when somebody with more money paid some peop[le to join him and make them history. It may have took alot of loot to get rid of those guys, but some where, somebody is sitting back thinking the same thing like " it was worth it". But seriously, the Earth is inherited by the meek, so the ones who are doing right not only spiritually, but logically to , it reflects in the wealth of that country. Bad decisions usually end up or even viewed at as being a bad decision because the idea lost or didn't produce a cash flow. See it's real simple. I could get all technical and use fancy words and statistics, graphs and pie charts, but it will all be a fancy way of saying living righteously some how brings wealth. Wealth is not just measured in dollar signs. A wealthy man would consider himself financially stable, healthy, guilt free man. A wealthy country is a beautiful country, a country that welcomes it's visitors. The country looks nice because the inhabitants of that land do the right thing for the most part. They treat others better than the inhabitants of a filthy, sodomizing, country whose leaders don't protect those less fortunate. How can you expect people across the world to want to do business with you if you sell off pieces of your country to rapist who just take from your lands leaving them battered and bruised. How can you not take care off the hungry and sick children whose parents are just as bad off as them. You see, that's why money talks. Because if you ain't got it, you doing something wrong.
