Why do people have so few real friends

It is hard work to have real friends and once that relationship has developed, just like any other relationship, you have to nurture it. This means it takes time to make a real friend and it takes time to nurture that friendship.

The answer to why do people have so few real friends is time. The way the world moves today there is no time for any thing other than work. We are caught in a world that seems to be moving faster and faster and the only way we can keep up is to stay at work for 10-12 hours at a time. People need to take vacations and learn to relax and enjoy their families and friends.

The time that we do take off we tend to spend that time with our families. There is not enough time for people to have a family, work, and have more than a few friends. It takes a lot of time and effort to nurture any relationship, and when you are short on time your friends are usually the ones who get left out.

You may be able to have more than a few real friends but how long will they stay around. Your schedule will change and their's too for that matter. Then you don't really lose a friend your just not as close as you use to be because you don't have the time to call or return a call. If there was more of an emphasis on real friends then people would take the time to call their "friends" back.

It is hard for people to work, take care of their families, and have more than a few real friends because while it would be nice to have an abundance of real friends the truth is others want to feel like they are wanted or needed. If this need is not met then you have hurt the other person and you now have damage control to deal with.

I would say that people have so few real friends in their life because we have forgotten what it means to take a break from the work force and enjoy the people we have around us. There is not enough time for all, life just happens and it happens fast. The next time you talk to your friend remind them how much they mean to you. Take the time to return a call or even a call a friend. This will help with the "few" real friend problem. We all need friends, especially real ones.
