Bring your Kids to Broccoli for Health anf Fun!
Today, i will introduce you to a well known vegetable: "Broccoli". But, i will suggest you a different manner to use it... * RAW * in good Smoothies!
You can cook your broccoli lightly, steamed it also, but eating it "Raw" will assure you to get the best of this vegetable and without altering too much its highly nutritious qualities.
Broccoli is a member of the cabbage family, we call them "Cruciferous". Like others cruciferous vegetables, broccoli is antioxidant and possess significant anti-cancer effects. Broccoli is boosting our immune system and our ability to detoxify or cleansing harmful compounds. With its flavonoids, broccoli offers a cardio-vascular protection and with the fibers is supporting digestive health. Rich in calcium, broccoli is helping also to make and maintain stronger bones!
You can find many good Nutrients in Broccoli:
* Vitamins: C, K, A, E, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9,
* Minerals: Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Manganese, Potassium, Phosphorus, Magnesium,
* Others: Tryptophan, Folic acid, Proteins, Glucids, Omega-3 fatty acid, Dietary Fibers, Indole, Sulforaphane, Glutathion, B-carotenoid, ...and more!
SMOOTHIES are Drinks or Soups... simple, easy, fast, and not expensive ways to eat your vegetables: RAW! With Broccoli here, i will speak about "Green Smoothies"! You need a blender machine, good knife, that's it! Nothing complicated.
Here some suggestions with Broccoli:
Smoothie-1
2 cups of cut raw broccoli
1/2 cup of cut raw green cabbage
1/2 feet of slices cut raw celery
1 cut pealed, empty-heart apple or 3/4 cup apples juice
Preparation: put in the blender all the pieces of the vegetables and fruit or juice and start low speed 20 secondes and then higher speed.
* If you prefer your Smoothie more liquid add water or more apple juice. If you prefer your Smoothie more thick add pieces of boiled potato (1 or 2) or pieces of banana (less than 1 because it will be too sweet). Try it and make your own favorite Green Smoothie!
Smoothie-2
1 cup of cut raw broccoli
1 cup of red or green grapes (without seeds) or 3/4 cup of grapes juice
Preparation: put in the blender the grapes or the juice and the broccoli. Start low speed 20 secondes and then higher speed. You can add pieces of ice cubes, if you want it fresher!
Smoothie-3: the Super Green!
2 cups of cut raw broccoli
2 cups of slices cut lightly boiled (less 8 minutes) leek
1 cup of the boiled leek juice
1 cup of clean fresh cut raw spinach leaves
1/2 cup of clean fresh cut raw parsley
1/4 spoon Curcuma
Preparation: put in the blender the leek juice, the vegetables with curcuma. Start on low speed 20 secondes and then higher speed.
* If you prefer your smoothie as a soup less thick: add more leek juice or milk or soya milk. If you prefer a thick smoothie add pieces of cooked potatoes, 1 or 2 medium one.
