Why it's important to listen to the elderly

There's an old saying in China goes like this, The elderly in your family is like a gold mine.
So what's the innotation of this old Chinese saying? Well, in China, when a person wants to make a big decision he or she will ask the elderly in his or her family and elders advice will be respected. Not only in China, we can find this kind of phenomena in different countries and cultures around the world. It's important to listen to the elderly.

I think many people who are reading just can't wait to ask me why.
The reasons are as follows.
First, listening to the elderly shows one's respect to the elderly. Maybe, the advices that the elderly give are not the ones that you're expecting for or even we can say they offer us with wrong ideas. But we still need to listen to them, because this will show the elderly your respect. In our families, parents will respect their kids and listen to them. So why not listen to the elderly? When you don't even respect your elderly and listen to them how come you can listen the kids you gonna raise in the future?
Second, the elderly has experienced many things, some of which we haven't experienced yet. When you come across with some problems in your life why not ask the elderly and listen to the suggestions they offer you? In that old Chinese saying, Chinese people treat the elderly as gold mine, i think it's just a metaphor describing the experience of the elderly. How precious the experience is! In order to gain those experiences the elderly had paid so much, for example, time, energy and so on. And we can gain these by simply listening to them but not through hardship. So why not listen to the elderly?
The third reason that I'm going to offer you is that listening to the elderly can help you better understand the difficulties that you're facing and it'll be easier for your to find the most suitable solution for you. We admit that there is generation gap and things just like communication barriers. And your ideas will crash with the ones from the elderly, just a little bit similar to a debate two ideas crash and a new one is born. The new idea you'll get after listening to the elderly may be the very key to the problem that is troublesome. So why not listen to the elderly?
So my dear readers, listening to the elderly is one of the most important things we need to do in our daily life.
