How to show appreciation at work

As a manager I find the best way to get my employees to work is to commend them when they do a good job. Listen- Everyone has input, whether used or not, team effort is a must.
Make them feel important- give them odd little jobs and tell them you couldn't do it without them.

But as a manager comes the task of being the bad guy. Just remember how you felt when you made a mistake. Be kind but firm and help them when they need help.Your job doesn't stop at being just the manager, get your hands dirty and you will have a more respected staff.

At the weekly meeting show your appreciation and point out the strong points before getting into the BAD. Always have a meeting with positive and negative views.

Acknowledge a certain employee daily and boost their morale. You could not do your job if you have an unhappy staff. I've seen it all too many times and have even walked away from a couple of my jobs because no matter what you did you just couldn't get along with either a co-worker or your boss.

Going above and beyond in your tasks will get you more appreciation and it will not go without notice. I tend to seek out the multi-taskers and give them as much work as they can handle.

Saying "Thank You" "Great Job" "Good Idea" are only a few ways to show your appreciation and I also like to reward with a snack(pizza, cookies, home cookin)or some personal touch to let them know how I feel about their work.
