WINTER IN CANDYLAND
It's wintertime; let's have some fun,
As everyone is on the run.
We bake and shop and wrap and more,
And rush from store to store to store.
We need a quiet evening in,
But we're not sure where to begin.
Let's make a fire and pop some corn
And play a game that's been well-worn.
Come walk with me in Lollipop Wood,
Hit Gumdrop Pass for something good.
Then toss a kiss to Grandma Nutt,
And Mr. Mint in his red striped hut.
Look out for Gloppy and Queen Frostine,
As we help King Kandy to make the scene.
Please, won't you play a game with me,
It doesn't add one calorie!
It's wintertime; let's have some fun,
As everyone is on the run.
I'll grab the box; you sit right here,
And we'll enjoy some cozy cheer.
This cheery childish song is light,
Quite like a snowy winter night.
As icicles our roof adorn,
Let's play a game that's weatherworn.
NOTE:
How many children have played this most basic of all board games? Moving plastic figurines along the multi-colored candy trail requires no reading or strategies. Still, this simple game somehow brings us together, old and young alike. Who cares who wins, as long as we can spend some gentle time together? Pull up a space on the rug. You can even go first!
