Celebrities do tend to get divorced more often than normal everyday people, but then their marriages and relationships area lot different to most peoples as well. The added pressure and sets of different circumstances in the case of celebrities makes it a lot harder to keep relationships both private and successful. This is probably why we see the likes of Julia Roberts who has been married twice and engaged no less than 4 times, as well as Angelina Jolie who is on husband number 3 already despite being in only her early thirties.

There are of course many different problems faced by these celebrities that aren't faced by everyday people, the greatest of which is probably the pressure of having everyone look at you wherever you go, and not being able to go see a movie or out to dinner like a normal married couple without someone taking a pictures or tying to ask you invasive questions to fill their magazines and gossip columns. This restriction on normal activities can put a large strain on celebrity marriages, and especially when they are used to getting their own way and being able to tell people what to do etc. Of course when they are married, particularly to another celebrity that power is gone, which again can cause tensions to form.

Another big factor in a lot of cases is the attention that celebrities receive from normal people when they are just going about their business without their husband or wife. A male film star for example will often be mobbed wherever he goes by admiring female fans, which can be hard to deal with for a partner, again especially if they are regarded as very attractive themselves, and aren't used to the kind of jealousy that this can create.

The medias representations of a lot of celebrities aren't usually a good thing for their marriages either, because they tend to print a lot of lies about them just to sell their product. Obviously when a husband or wife reads something about their spouse such as they are having an affair or that the couple are having problems when they are not, which will cause people who know them to be calling them all day to find out the truth, this causes tensions to form as well.

Another problem many celebrities face is simply seeing enough of each other to keep the marriage alive, which is why a lot of them also tend to have affairs. Particularly professions such as actors or musicians who are on location filming or on tour for months at a time, making time for their spouse can be very hard, as can keeping their love alive when they dot see that other person for such an extended period of time and they are faced with temptations all the time from their fans etc.

All of these factors combined are often the causes of celebrities marriages breaking down, and when you consider then the national average now mean that over half or marriages for even normal people will end in divorce for some reason or other, it is no wonder really that celebrities seem to get divorced a lot more.
