A young James's story- Jake

Jake was a small and quiet boy like James. Like James he was short for his age. Like James he didn't usually speak unless spoken to, but unlike James there was something wickedness glinting in his eyes that warned of anyone who dared to mess with him. He was a good athlete and could run very fast, even though he didn't have a build like most boys. On the first day Jake came to school he was called up in front of the class to introduce himself.

My name's Jake,' he mumbled. Then realizing he was almost inaudible to the class, raised his voice a notch. My name is Jake! I'm a boy.' It was obvious that Jake was a boy, anybody could see that. The class laughed like it was the funniest joke.

Mrs. Grump clapped her hands to quieten everyone down.

Jake continued, I love computer games but I love animals the most.' He suddenly put his hand in his pocket and took out just the greenest, slimmest, and biggest frog ever. It was the bigger than Jake's hand. The class screamed, especially the girls, who seemed to be very particular about their hair, hands and skirts. But even the boys wouldn't want any frog slim on their neat school shirts and blazers.

James was the only one that didn't flinch. He lived with his mother on the eighth floor in a small apartment and had put up with enough dirt in his whole life to not be affected merely by a frog. James was not a fussy boy. He was actually quite fascinated by Jake who had certainly made an impression on his first day. When Mrs. Crump warned him that frogs, or any other animals, were not welcome in the school, Jake frowned slightly, as if he couldn't understand the logic of it. She asked him to get rid of the frog so Jake put it on the window sills, where it leaped outside and disappeared into the shrubbery surrounding the school ground. It was just as well that the classroom was on the ground floor, or the frog might have surely been gone for good.

After the commotion died down Jake was assigned to sit next to James, since James was the only one with an empty seat besides him. Jake sat down and not looking at James. James was not a boy who liked to make conversation first so he didn't say anything. As Mrs. Crump droned on and on about how Americans discovered America, James's mind dwelled on Bobby. Bobby was a dog that was abandoned in the streets but was rescued by James a few weeks ago. Bobby had brown fur and he was a very friendly and well-behaved dog.

When the lesson ended Mrs. Crump asked James
