I am a Christian, but I keep my faith to myself. I'm retired now, but I remember a man who worked with me on a police force years ago. He was a man who wore his Christian faith on his sleeve. We called him the Rev because of his continuous preaching. He called himself a committed Christian. But he was only a committed Christian when it suited him.
I remember one night when we were riding together and responded to a serious call. It should have been my investigation, but I ordered him to take it. And he wanted revenge, but I had no idea. He bidet his time and he got his revenge. We were again sent to a serious incident, but this time the tables were turned. I can clearly remember him, after I had arrested five people, walking out of the office with a smile on his face. Revenge was certainly sweet for him.
I can also remember his anger when he responded to false alarms. This was a job he got paid to do, yet he was very angry at those he promised to serve and protect.
He was also angry at wolves for killing deer. I remember his anger that was so severe that it seemed like he wanted to wipe them all out. He hated wolves, one of God's creatures, for doing what came naturally.
The list can go on like disobeying orders from an officer for one. But it was very clear that this man was nothing more than a Christian hypocrite. If everything went well, he was more than willing to play the dedicated Christian. But if he was ever crossed, his Christian ideals went out the window.
