Now that we're nearing the 2008 season in about 70 days, I think the COT is totally bad for NASCAR after watching the entire 2007 season. Most of the COT races were nothing but follow the leader, even at Bristol, until the last 10 laps and then you had actual racing, Sure Kyle Busch and Jeff Burton or Matt Kenseth battling each other to win would normally be a good thing, but the COT makes them look like they're driving 50 miles an hour slower. Jeff and Jimmie battling at Martinsville would've been much better if Jeff could've punted JJ out of the way, but the new car doesn't even allow that. I totally agree with Kyle when he said the COT sucked, even though he could've been a little more tact about it.
The former car may have not looked anything like a Monte Carlo or Fusion, but at least they could race in it. The COT looks like an IROC car with a wing and it sounds like the drivers think it drives like a tank. If Brian France had any business sense, he would involve Detroit and get GM and Ford to put actual Monte Carlo/Impalas or Ford whatever they want to use this year cars in the race with all the safety improvements in the actual stock or showroom cars. Let the drivers drive without debris cautions, lucky dogs, and competition cautions and racing might just improve and ratings could go through the roof again.
