Our teenagers have their own language, we call it slang. Aussie people have their own lingo as well. It only stands to reason that there is also a chat/ im /text messaging lingo as well. These short phrases are usually the first letter of several words meant to shorten typing time.
If you are new to these forums, you might want to brush up on these terms so that you are in the know instead of being left scratching your head wondering what in the world someone just said to you. It took me a while to learn even the easiest initial replacements for sentences. These days, they are even used in commercials for cell phones. I would feel really bad if anyone was left wondering what they are talking about.
Following is a list of some of the most popular terms that will help you get a start understanding the internet lingo that undoubtly is a part of your child's vocabulary. This isn't just for the internet anymore either. It's great for those often tedious text messages that can wear your fingers to the bone.

These are some great starters to know what you are talking about when you are online or on your cell phone. Give these a shot. There are a lot more to learn but if you start with these you can't go wrong. Before you know it you will be saying these and many other things with just a few letters. It's kind of scary to think that this language is actually being used in real time also! :-)
