It seems that gastrointestinal problems are many and are related to different causes. Therefore, a remedy that was successful for one person may not be of any effect for another. However, when the GI problems are related to a certain disorder then the recommended remedy of a patient who found it useful may be effective for others having the same disorder.
My experience is that of irritable bowl syndrome which is normally trigered either by worry, anxiety, depressive moods etc or eating certain types if food. Unfortunately, even the types of food that cause the problem differe from one person to another. For example, the best fruit for me when my colon is irritated is bananas. Yet I know a friend who cannot eat bananas while his colon is irritated; once he had to go to the emergency after he ate a banana. Therefore, with regard to types of food one eates, the best thing is to make your own list through experience.
Whenever your colon is irritated you should stop eating foods rich in fibre (though these are the best for you at normal times), milk and other dairy products except yogrut.
But the best treatment I found for irritable bowl syndrome when the colon is irritated and you have all the unpleasant symptoms is to limt your food to pure bee honey and bread for two days. It is also possible to use rice instead of bread. Normally after a maximum of three days you find yourself able to eat normal. However, if the cause that irritated your stomach is still there you may again find yourself suffering the symptoms. That is to say if you had a worrying problem that caused the irritation and use honey you will get better, but once you go back to eat normal and still have the psychological problem the irritation will deveop again.
