Writing while inebriated is something one shouldn't practice every day, but
maybe once in awhile when your feeling frivolous, or feeling silly. I've sat
down on the computer with a glass of wine or cooler, tried to write, but your
mind, thoughts become fuzzy, and there's nothing humorous about that. Then
you look at your writing afterwards and wonder what in the world your writing
about. You've got to have a pretty good imagination, a fairly good concentration
level, but when your inebriated your writing is all over the place. You can even
laugh at your own muse, your own writing, because no one will be around to judge
you or criticize you. For you'll be in the sanctuary of your own home, you'll be
safe, be able to put what's in your heart, out on paper. Even if you are a little
bit tipsy, you'll be able to laugh at it. If you have a partner you can share it
with him, or a friend, and you can have a good chuckle or two. When writing while
being inebriated would be something silly, would be like putting the silly side
out of you. You don't always have to be serious in your writing, you can let your
mind take you to the creative side of it.
You can let your mind go even while intoxicated take you to places you've
never been before. Where it will let you get your thoughts out and not suppress
them too much inside. For when your writing while inebriated it can be something
that can be done, that can be fun, even entertaining. It could be something that
you could do with your partner, and maybe even bring the two of you closer together.
I'm just speaking hypothetically. Not saying that I would ever do it, but never
say never, for it would be a truly humorous experience. We all need to do something
different, do something that we've never done before. It would be boring if we did
the same thing all the time, wrote the same thing all the time. I've got to start
trying new things, doing new things, get on with things. When your writing and you
have a glass or two of your favorite drink, it looks so much different then when
you are sober.
When you are sober you see the things more clearly, see the words that you've
written, to know them and understand them. You know that you can let your hair down,
let the words flow, go with it, and get something funny out of it. You don't always
have to be serious, or a sad sack. I don't know if I'd try it again, writing and
drinking, it just doesn't seem to go hand in hand with me. It would probably work
if you where doing something not so serious. Then life shouldn't be all about being
serious, we should have a little entertaining along the way.
