What is Christmas without a Christmas tree? I have always gotten a real tree for christmas. Real trees are beautiful. They have that great evergreen smell to them. Don't get me wrong about fake trees, but I work in retail and I have to put together fake trees every Christmas. Fake Christmas trees are not the same as a real tree. Fake trees don't have the same fullness, color, texture, and shape as a real tree. Fake trees are also a pain to put together. By the time you get the thing put together you are in no mood to decorate it and it sits bare for a couple of days.
It is not like we are killing all trees. There are tree farms that raise Christmas trees. What if the government banned people from having real trees? What would the tree farmers do? Raising Christmas trees are these people's livelihood; they're way to make a living.
Now, I'm not saying buying a fake tree is wrong, but I would rather have a real tree for a few weeks than a fake one my whole life. Real trees have a certain magic to them that fake trees just don't have. Plus, it's not like people don't give two hoots about they're discarded trees. Many people cry when they have to throw their trees out. One of my relatives keep they're tree until after New Year's day.
Christmas is special with a real tree. The night's sitting there admiring the decorations and drinking in the smell of the tree. It is a proven fact that the smell of a Christmas relaxes people. It is one thing that makes Christmas less stressful.
