The only way that Bush-bashing could be unpatriotic is if George W. Bush is perfectly infallible and is completely impartial and non-partisan. However, since Bush is a human being, he is naturally prone to make mistakes, despite his reluctance to acknowledge that. He may no longer drive drunk or skip commitments without informing the hosts, he certainly continues to make embarrassing gaffes. Repeatedly, his strong statements in support of foreign intervention have been proven to be based on false premises which he should have been sure about in advance. The neo-con promotion of double-speak makes it easier to understand why Bush is unconcerned about people realizing that many of his assertions are purely based on ideology, having no basis in actual facts or reality. Thus, because Bush has repeatedly used deception or fabrication to justify his positions and decisions, it should be considered unpatriotic not to challenge Bush (i.e. Bush-bashing), when he is clearly wrong.
Ultimately, Dabuya should have an opportunity to explain himself to his maker. Will he be able to convince the Almighty that it is good and righteous to enable the rich to get richer and make the poor even poorer. Honest interpretations of the New Testament of the Bible indicate that Jesus protected the poor and disadvantaged and that he challenged the rich and powerful. It is indisputable that Bush's core constituency is the rich and powerful. That is a central tenet of the neo-con ideology to which he is so faithful. Thus, to be a die-hard supporter of Bush requires disavowal of the teachings of Jesus. What would Jesus do? It is unlikely that he would ignore the pleads of those in the greatest need, because his ministry was focused on them. Failure to bash Bush on his bellicose war-mongering could be seen as hypocritical and un-Christian. Prohibiting Bush-bashing would then be tantamount to a violation of freedom of religion and of separation of church and state.
Among the the most important Constitutional rights is preservation of the First Amendment freedom of speech. If expressing views critical of a sitting president is unpatriotic or illegal, then the U.S. is no longer a democratic country. It is true that the Bush Administration has been ruthless at times and broken the intent and letter of the law in order to punish those deemed to be disloyal to Bush, due to being honest and patriotic. A case in point is the Bush Administration's illegal outing of Valerie Plame, due to her husband's
