The question of whether a single world currency could work is very important because that can surely happen. The only thing that can cause this not to be possible is when people go out of their way to stop it.
As it is globally we are already down to the us dollar, the euro, and the pound as the main players. We see everything pegged against the pound the euro or the dollar.Within Africa the relatively known currencies are the rand and the naira. It is my point that we can not probably say it will happen but as the question suggests, could it work.
first i will identify the things that point me to the fact that it can work.the us dollar is one of them.it has been said that of the total USA dollars in circulation there can be as much as half to one third circulating i the rest of the world.the influence of American money is well known and the strength of most world currencies are determined by their comparison to the usa dollar.
the other simple indicator is the card .usage of utilities like the master card maestro visa American express clearly shows it can be done.this to me means that if money is convert-able then money can easily be one type.
it can work.money on its on as long as it is not opposed by political will can be in any form.as long as people accept it and use it to their ens.in Zimbabwe , for example ,the money in circulation is just paper with no special watermarks.this to me means money can be anything that people accept and use.
the usa dollar is already recognized and appreciated by many people and commerces of the world. some countries people would rather be paid the green back than their currencies
