Reasons why it's better to be a non-driver

I have been a non-driver my entire life. While it may not be fun all the time, it does have many great benefits. The most important one is that you are helping the environment. You are not adding to the pollution problem or using precious oil. It's also safer to walk or bike than to drive. While you can still get hit by a car, pedestrian hit and runs are far less common than car related accidents.

The benefits heavily outweigh the downfalls of not being a driver. You never have to get stuck in traffic jams or worry about speeding tickets, parking tickets, etc. Not having a car is great for your wallet too. Not being a driver, you don't have to pay for insurance every month, and lets face it the price of gas probably isn't going down anytime soon. You also have to pay for maintenance and repair, and replace your tires every few years.

Another great thing about being a non-driver is that you won't have to deal with the DMV. Almost everyone hates the DMV, and going to the DMV is no fun. You no longer have to wait in long lines, fill out many forms, or worry about keeping your drivers license current. Instead of having a drivers license, you can carry a state ID which are normally valid for seven years.

Millions of cars are stolen or highjacked all over the world every year. When you're a non driver, you don't have to worry about getting your car stolen. While you may get your car back or receive money from you car insurance company, it's still a pain and a major headache to deal with. You also don't have to worry about leaving valuable objects in your car since you'll have them on you instead.

One thing that everyone can agree to love is that it benefits your health. You don't burn many calories behind the wheel, and you don't ruin your mental or emotional health having to deal with road rage. Even if you take public transportation, you can meet new people or get some work done on the bus/subway. You can also read a book or newspaper, do a crossword or sudoku puzzle, or make to do lists. Think you can live without a set of wheels? By all means, go for it!
