Many students commute to classes these days. Some are non-traditional students with families at home to care for, others don't care for dorm life, and still others are on a waiting list for a dorm room. There are some wonderful gift ideas that I have found for commuting college students.
Book: Commuter Student: Being Your Best at College and Life by Carl M. Wahlstrom and Brian K. Williams. This book is available at Amazon.com in paperback form both new and used starting at about $3.63.
Insulated coffee mug with their school name and logo is a wonderful gift.
Emergency Road Kits are nearly a must these days. These usually contain flares, signs to post, and other equipment to keep you safe while waiting for that repair or tire change
A trunk organizer for carrying extra items, especially if they are car pooling and limited on space
Colored insulated lunch totes, these are great for keeping cold snacks cold on the road for the long weekend commuter
Pen Scanners for taking lots of notes.
Totes of various sizes, with school logos are great for carrying essentials
Music CD's for listening fun on the road
FX Satellite radio that can be installed or even plugged into the lighter
Air Bubble for that quick emergency inflation of a low tire to get the student to the next stop
Roadside assistance insurance would be a real winner with me.
GPS device is a very welcome gift.
This just breaks the tip of the iceberg for commuter students. Gift certificates and loaded Visa cards, cellular phones, or any number of items in all price ranges will be welcome Christmas gifts for the commuter student.
