Items for a Trendy Female Dorm Room

More and more young women on campuses are endeavoring to transform their rooms into a chic, comfortable environment that escapes all the stresses of college life. More than ever, stuffed animals, flowery picture frames, and posters of dream boys are being replaced by wall hangings, candles, and mood lighting.

Two of the biggest trends are sleek and chic, (think silver accents, pastel colors, soft edges), or earthy/tranquil (think bamboo accessories, neutral colors with green accents). Help your girl get the atmosphere she's looking for with some of these ideas.

*Bamboo or silver picture frames.

*Vases. Various sizes and shapes in one solid color.

*Accent rugs. Bamboo slats, a solid pastel, or pastel stripes in peaceful colors.

*Curtains. Often dorm room curtains can be changed as long as they are replaced with the originals before the student leaves. Check to see if they have a curtain rod or hooks, then try something different to introduce new textures to the room. Consider a sheer material as a scarf/swag to finish the look.

*Lamps. Avoid typical desk lamps and go for something unique. Another possibility is a string of paper lanterns that can be hung about the room.

*Chair covers. Turn a regular chair into something special.

*Small storage/organizer boxes. Pick ones that are fabric or leather. They'll hide away clutter and add to the look of the room.

*Throw pillows. Again, new textures is key. Try corduroy, silk, or twill.

*A small fleece throw blanket. Perfect for snuggling in with a book.

*Lotions

*Facial Masks

*Pedicure/Manicure sets.

*Specialty hot chocolate or herbal tea.
