When considering buying gifts for a dorm student it is very important to take into account the rules that apply to your college student. Some older dorms don't allow electronic items like coffee makers, hot pots, microwaves, etc. in their dorm rooms and thus this would be an unfortunate gift to give if these rules apply. If you know there are no such rules for your dormitory student then a microwave, refrigerator or rice cooker might be the best gift you could give.
Another way to go is the fun accent item. A rug, digital photo frame, duvet cover or throw pillows. Not to mention the personal accent item like a pair of warm slippers, big fluffy towels or a snuggly robe. However, if you aren't sure of your college dorm student's tastes this could prove to be a difficult choice...but have no fear. There is one way you can not go wrong when buying something for a college students dorm room. What is one thing every person needs and dorm dwellers need most of all?
MORE SPACE! Go the route of the organizers and you won't go wrong. Closet, desk, shoe and free standing organizers will all be appreciated. Make sure you know the dimensions of the space available before going this direction.
And one more fail proof gift? Food. When in doubt feed them. Gift certificates to grocery stores and restaurants enable a dorm student to pick the foods they enjoy and get away from that school cafeteria without denting their awfully thin wallets.
Speaking of thin wallets, you can never ever go wrong with a roll of quarters. Laundry must be done and it doesn't come cheap when you are using a school washer and dryer.
Happy shopping!
