Getting your kids to do their chores

When it comes to cleaning up around the house. I use timing and rewards and limits to what chores I give my kids. Examples are helping wash and dry dishes for those of you who still don't have dishwashers, making their own bed, cleaning up their own room, picking up thier own clothes(toddlers are good for this one), pick up magazines or books around the house, help with dinner, do school work in a timely fashion, do any chores or task given to them in a timely manner.
Like my seven year old he gets tickets to the treasure box if he completes his shores in a timely manure. The toddler get tickets for movie time in the morning while big brother is in school. Yes it works.
I have recommended to a lot of my friends to try this and it works to give chores then rewards.Several of my friends used new books, or cheap candy, or even park time as rewards. Just write or draw with them a picture or name of something that they like or want and make them work for the item. When my first was smaller it was poker chips for cookies (100 calorie pack ones)one poker chip was one cookie. then he got tired of cookies so we moved to movies, then the treasure box. Which is just cheap dollar toys that he picked out at tax time and I put in a rubber maid tub with a lid on it.
So let the sky be the limit to what you use but remember to reward when the chore is done or they will not do it again.
