Celebrity scents: Perfumes made popular by sweet-smelling stars

not entirely convinced it's what Britney herself really smells like.

- Usher

Usher He 3.4 oz. Eau de Toilette: $65
Usher She 3.4 oz. Eau de Parfum: $68
Also available in a body lotion, body cream, and body wash.

Usher He is a warm and potent blend of pineapple and melon combined with amber and black suede. Unlike the abundance of clean, fresh men's scents currently on the market, this one smells wonderfully masculine and, while your girlfriend might love it, she won't be borrowing it.

Usher She, on the other hand, is a juicy concoction of red currant, apple blossom, amber wood and vanilla orchid, which, according to the man himself, "represents a woman of mystery and confidence."

- Kate Moss, Kate

3.4 oz. Eau de Toilette: 37.45
www.coty.com

The iconic English supermodel's eponymous debut perfume won't be available in the USA until 2008 but if sales in Britain, where it's the top-selling celebrity scent, are anything to go by it's sure to be a hit.
A floriental mix of magnolia, peony, forget-me-not and rose blended with patchouli, sandalwood and musk, it promises to capture "the two sides of Kate: the good Kate and the bad Kate."

- Sean Combs, Unforgivable Woman

4.2 oz. Eau de Toilette: $75
Also available in a body lotion.
www.seanjohnfragrances. com

After the success of Unforgivable, P Diddy turns his attention to his first love - women.
Combining orange, grapefruit, apple, jasmine, violet, freesia and cyclamen, Unforgivable Woman may, at first, seem like yet another fruity floral but, as the day wears on, its woody base of cedar and sandalwood comes into play, giving it a sexier edge. The surprise note in the mix is pina colada. "I think we all have an emotional connection to pina colada," Mr Combs confesses on the press release. Whatever you say, Puff.

- Paris Hilton, Can Can

3.4 oz. Eau de Parfum: $55
Also available in a body lotion.
www.parlux.com

While we don't, personally, know anyone who will admit to wanting to smell like Paris Hilton, it seems there are plenty of people who do her fragrance line nets Parlux a cool $75 million a year.
Inspired by the saucy dancers of the Moulin Rouge, Can Can mixes cassis, nectarine, and wild orchid with orange blossom, musk and amber for a flirty and fun scent with a hint of sophistication.

- Christina Aguilera, Christina Aguilera

Also available in a body lotion, shower gel, and deodorant.
www.christina-aguile ra-perfumes.com

Christina Aguilera's self-titled scent claims to encapsulate old-school Hollywood glamour in a curvaceously retro bottle. With notes of tangerine, blackcurrant, jasmine, vanilla and musk, it's sweet and girlish and, while I can't imagine Joan Crawford or Jean Harlow wearing it, the youthful demographic it's aimed at will lap it up.

And if you thought there was no room left for another celebrity scent in an already saturated market, think again.

In 2008, Jay-Z is set to develop a fragrance in conjunction with Elizabeth Arden; country singer, Tim McGraw is scheduled to release his debut perfume with Coty; Jessica Simpson will add a signature scent to her best-selling cosmetics range; rumour has it Claudia Schiffer will be the next supermodel to put her name to a smelly; and doyenne of the celeb scent, Jennifer Lopez, will bring out her eighth perfume, "Deseo".
