The Gift of Choice: Gift Cards for the College Student

Ah college... so many needs, so many wants, so little money. Check out these gift suggestions that are sure to be appreciated!

*Food! When it comes to meals in dorm, cheep always beats out healthy. Bring some nutrition back into your student's diet with a gift card to a grocery store. If you are unsure of the stores nearest them, go with a large chain. Loblaws has excellent gift cards available that can be redeemed at any of their chains. For instance, you may buy it at an Independent Grocer, but the student can spend it at Zhers, NoFrills... and so on.

*Restaurants. Always appreciated. Some staples are: Starbucks, Tim Hortons, or other coffee shops; Dairy Queen, Boston Pizza/Pizza Hut; and fast-food for those late night cravings (McDonalds, Burger King etc...).

*Movie Theaters. Give the gift of a fun night out. Go to www.cineplex.com to search for the theaters nearest their location, and then buy gift cards online. They come in several different denominations, as well as gift packs that include the price of a ticket and snacks.

*Entertainment. What about a gift card to Rogers, Blockbuster etc... to be redeemed towards rentals or the latest DVD?

*Music . Most students have an ipod, so now you can help them get the tunes they want by giving a gift card for music downloads.

*Clothing. If you know or can find out where your student likes to shop, hit the mall and pick up a card. Fit a whole new wardrobe in a Christmas Card!

*Everything in between. Another thing you can't go wrong on is a large superstore such as Walmart. Here, students can get their necessities, videos, music, electronics, and much more.
