Absolutely humor makes a difference! There is a verse in the Bible that says "a merry heart is good like medicine but a broken spirit dries the bones". Unfortunately I have had days that I've felt like every bone in my body had dried up, shriveled off or fell to the lower regions of my torso. In these dark days of my life, if anyone, anyone at all could make me laugh for a moment it felt like morphine being pumped into my blood.

The crossroads of life come frequently and trials are certain for everyone. It would behoove us to embrace the humor of it all. If there is no humor in your midst, find it! Without a doubt a little laughter can shed a lot of light on the darkest of situations and bring hope or even reprieve. Laughter also allows us the brief release of carrying the burden that we have loaded up and attached to our back. Yes, I know we don't usually choose the harsh reality of our existence and often we are handed circumstances that are beyond our repair; however, in those moments of time, a good comedy skit, funny relative, or a slapstick humor TV show can always helps lighten the load.

So if you find yourself in the throws of despair, take a little time to help yourself out of the doldrums of life with some good old fashioned, medicated, cost free, fairly easy to find, humor! I can promise you that the return on your effort will be worth the release of your angst.
