THE ONES TO REMEMBER!
I love to add a little of my own ornaments to my tree besides all the regular ones from years past. I make photo ornaments of memory. If there is a loved one that has past on, whether it be person or animal, I take their photo and add it on something that best described them. If it was a dog, I would add their picture to a ball or bone made of wood or plastic. If it were to be a person, I would put their picture on something that represented them. It would just make it special so that I would think of them each year when I put up the tree.

I also make at least one ornament for each of the living family members with the year on it when I give it to them. I am a traditional person when it comes to making special ornaments. My family is used to having at least one to add to their tree or table each year. My grandparents were like that. I still have the different ones they had given my mother, which she gave to us when we grew up and had our own Christmas.

I have been also trying to carry the tradition with my husbands family since I have been married. They always receive the hand made ornament from us. I try and make the photo ones of us with the year on it since they live so far away. They let me know that they are always on their trees every year. Sometimes the ones you make yourself last longer than the ones you buy in the store.
