It is a shame that this question even has to be asked.
First of all Mitt Romney is not asking anyone to join his church. He is applying for a job as the President of the United States. The doctrine since the beginning of his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or LDS for short (commonly known as the Mormons) specifically states "We believe in worshiping the all mighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how where or what they may." The other so called "Christians" would do well to live by the same.
The evangelical "Christians" come of so bigoted in this debate. They accuse the "Mormons" of excluding them because they say that the Mormons claim that they are the only true church. If you don't believe that your church is true - then why do you belong to it? You may include other "Christian" religions - but you exclude ALL others from heaven who do not fit your criteria. When it comes to the billions of people in China and India who don't even know who Christ is - at least the Mormons include them AND evangelicals in God's vast plan for ALL of his children on earth. How many "Christian" religions do that? If a person would not vote for anyone based on their religion, they should seriously examine their own heart - is it clean? Even Christ taught tolerance for those who were not of His faith - even that it was better to show compassion and tolerance to others when it is harder for you to do so.
People want Mitt Romney to explain his religion. How ignorant can you get? Not even Mitt Romney could explain every facet of his religion because it encompasses everything. You would need to start with the basics. One person would then complain because he did not cover a certain area - if Mitt was not there to answer then it would be assumed he did not believe it. That could go on forever. Voters should look at his record.
As for taking orders from the Prophet...There are several members of LDS church in politics. One of them is the Majority Leader of the DEMOCRATIC party Harry Reid. His voting record and political ideas are VASTLY different form Mitt Romney. Which one of them is taking orders from the prophet?
As for his change on the Abortion stance. I remember voting for George Bush because he said that we would know where he stands and he would not waver from that. But what that translated to was..."If I'm heading for a cliff it doesn't matter - I'm not going to change my course because
