Pop music: Past, present and future

Pop music over the years has reflected the trends and fashions of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's even into 2007, so as we can determine it's an ongoing thing that will probably be around in 200 years reflecting their times and fashion, from the early Beatles mania to Madonna in the eighties.
Why pop music is so popular is probably due to the fact that it does dictate fashion to a point, by following bands, and dressing like them , like the new romantics of the eighties it was different and fun.

The bands are often around a couple of years then disappear into the distance never to be seen again!
Pop music for me means catchy tunes with sometimes some great lyrics, its fun and not to be taken seriously unlike rock, which often has meaning and messages in the lyrics.
Pop music is harmless fun!
The thing is you can be forgiven for thinking it's a load of rubbish sometimes, and that pop music is just a whim, but it is what it says popular music and hits a broad and varied audience, it's open to all ages to enjoy, kind of like middle of the road with a beat!
So I say pop music forever!
Because to be honest I think it always will be around forever as long as people want boppy music that keeps them going through the day and pop music reflects that immediate time in history, and so creates eras that we can all look back on with reflection and say " ah yea do you remember when?"
