While there exists a difference between the adult learner and young learners, all depends on the attitude that is inside each person. No one person is alike because the world would be a boring place.
If a person wants to learn, they will learn. Many of the younger learners do not appreciate how many older people want to learn new techniques. There are older people who are learning how to use the computer and utilizing the computer for tasks that needed paper. The majority of the older people have returned to college and universities to learn tasks to prepare them for a second career and or a second job.
We can also say that Helium is another institution where people of all ages can learn to write or if they are established writers, can learn how to improve their writing methods and even adopt or incorporate new styles.
In Estonia, [as well as other Baltic States] there are older people who have learned the art of electronics and even government employees of an older nature have learned how to fill government documents on the Internet. Estonia is converting into a Paperless Society with the Older Generation leading the way.
In Miami Florida, there are television stations such as America Teve, Univision, and Telemundo that have offered people who wanted to act an opportunity to take acting lessons. These opportunities are for those who are in their mid 40's and above. Many people in the adult and older generation have taken advantage of the offer and appear regularly on TV.
The attitude for learning is within the inside. I myself who is in my mid 40's have said that the term "elderly" and "geriatric" are cliches and discriminatory. I prefer to use the term "Second Youth". After all Sindo Garay [Cuban Composer who lived from 1867-1968] once said: "Age is in the Mentality of the Person".
