The Door Of My Mind...
The Room is small, Cold, and Empty,
The once Bright Walls Nothing more than Faded, and Worn,
Covered in the Desperation and Hopelessness of a thousand Lifetimes,
And the bare concrete Floor bears Witness to every Faded Hope and Dream,
An Eternity of Pain and Suffering was Born Here,
Created with the Intention of Destroying All who have Entered,
Breaking them, piece-by-piece; until not even a Glimmer Exists,
And the Dank, Hostile air Fills your lungs till it has Consumed Everything,
The only Purpose of this Room is Absolute Isolation,
Twice-removed from any sense of Humanity, or Care,
Designed to Shatter any Foundation you Might have Had, or Longed for,
And to Perpetuate any and all Illusion that will Keep you in its Depths,
There are no Windows Here,
Not even a Shred of Light can be Found or Felt in this Place,
The bitter Chill of Desolation is Constant and Powerful,
And only a cold, metal Door stands between You and what lies Beyond,
Time has no Meaning here-it simply Doesn't Exist,
Hours, Days, and Years cannot be Counted, nor Imagined,
And if Not for the Insanity that Drags you Down even Further,
It wouldn't take Long to forget that you're even Alive,
I Know all of this because I have Been there,
Locked away, and Forgotten about in the blink of an Eye,
Carelessly Discarded, and Sentenced to the Depths of my own Mind,
To this Place where even the Strong are Easily Broken, and Damaged,
Only I had the Ability and the Means to pick my Self up,
To Rise from the Floor and Gather Every ounce of Strength I Possessed,
To Resist the Urge to Simply "give in" and become yet Another Victim,
And to Reach for the Handle on the Door that seemed So far away,
Once I Realized that No One was Coming for me- that no "Rescue" was Possible,
It was up to Me and me Alone to Save my Self,
And with the Resolve and Determination that not even the Darkness could take From me,
I grabbed the handle of the Door and Thrust it Open with All I had Left,
I'm only here Now Because I Chose not to Surrender,
Decided enough was Enough, and Overcame my Fear of the Door in Front of me,
Realized that I my Self had become my own Keeper and Guard,
And once that Door had been Opened; I had Freed my Self, and have Never looked Back...
