Christmas 2007: Feng shui gift ideas

Struggling to find the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for person on your list is a terrible headache. What if you could find something that's sure to please - and not just on Christmas day, but for years to come?

Give the gift of balance this year! Feng shui is synonymous with harmonious living - and it's aesthetically pleasing, too. The best part of feng shui is that you can find something for anyone, and it's a simple way to show that you care about their happiness and well-being.

FENG SHUI CANDLES
The flicker of candlelight is relaxing and creates a wonderful ambiance in any room. Combine an assortment of feng shui pillar candles (which vary in thickness, height, and color) with a ceramic plate and some river rocks, and you've got an instant classic. There are several stores which sell feng shui candle sets, but it's a little more personal when you create your own combination.

Candles are an ideal gift for someone you don't know very well or only have limited contact with throughout the year. They also work well as holiday presents for co-workers or "Secret Santa" drawings, since they're cost-effective and bring a great result.

FENG SHUI WATER FOUNTAINS
The soothing sound of bubbling water calms the environment, whether it's a bustling office or a busy living room. A gift that aids in relaxation is always appreciated - so a feng shui water fountain will be a hit with any recipient. Simple and small fountains can be found for under $25 at most major retailers - and proportionately, the bigger the fountain, the bigger the price!

Water fountains are great gifts for family members and those close to you. You'll be familiar with their likes and dislikes, so you can choose the most appropriate fountain based on their tastes. Some fountains are loud and fairly obnoxious-looking, while others are subdued and quiet - depending on your loved one's preferences, it will be easy to choose one that will make them bubble with happiness.

FENG SHUI WIND CHIMES
A tinkling cadence of bells is an extremely uplifting thing to hear. Many feng shui wind chimes are actually made with bells instead of the traditional cylinders, and their balanced looks complement any outdoor space. Some are even made for indoor use, but make sure the recipient knows that - they may not be able to withstand rough weather outside.

Feng shui wind chimes and bells are fantastic gifts to give to anyone, especially people that you're close to; you can be assured that it will be music to their ears and that they'll know you care. The size of the piece should depend on both your budget and how much you know about them - if they're easily distracted, chimes and bells may not be the best gift for them.

With so many feng shui options for Holiday presents, it's easy to find something to please everyone. While you're giving one of these special gifts, you'll know that you're contributing to their general well-being and balance - which is what makes giving feel so good.
