A GAME
Storm clouds as dark as the midnight sky;
Rain pouring down like tears from my eyes.
Trees bending like blades of grass from the
force of the wind;
Inside so bright, like when a new day begins.
They play their games and put up a fuss;
A few get mad at a loss and one might curse.
Outside, rain pours down.
But here there is no sadness, not a single frown.
A new hand is dealt, a new battle to be seen;
When one is skipped, it's not because they're
trying to be mean.
They laugh and joke while playing their game;
not once giving notice to the outside domain.
One player gets caught trying to cheat;
If it happens again, it's a game they'll repeat.
The cards have been shuffled and given out.
They play over and over, no stress or doubt.
The scene plays out in this room.
Now it ends, bedtime soon.
