Reflections on the Great White North
Sonnet II: "Alaska My Lady"
I deem thee both my lover and my friend
A guide though unforeseen of worth untold
So clear from first embrace until the end
That I would be a member of thy fold
We rugged suitors, solitary all
Do court thee in our silent revelries
A malcontented rabble with the gall
To pine away our lives among the trees
Our hearts, our minds, our souls with thee to stay
No thoughts of former friends or former shores
All sorrows past and present float away
With thee O' Lady pulling at the oars
Forevermore to lead our course aright
By sweet Aurora's everlasting light
