How many people hated gym class as kids?
I know I did...I was about as nonathletic as they come, but it was through this class that I discovered weight training (or bodybuilding) and from there my transformation began to the healthy, athletic individual I am today. People hear the word "bodybuilding" and they immediately leap to images of 300-pound behemoths in tiny thongs posing oiled-up before a crowd. This may be the extreme example, but in basis bodybuilding is much simpler, and much more useful to the average person.
It is not the process of becoming as huge as possible, but in essence it is strengthening your muscles, improving the look of your physique, and your overall healthiness, by challenging yourself physically in a way that does not necessarily require any genetic talent to begin with. It is not a potentially embarrassing (to the nonathletic) ordeal like team sports, it can be done alone, with friends, or even in one's own home. Increasing your muscle mass helps burn fat off your body, gives you more energy, decreased risk of heart disease, and who knows? You may find an athlete within, and an opportunity to try bodybuilding may be just what the doctor ordered. After all, it's not any worse than square dancing (do they still do that in gym class?).
