Yes, I certainly believe they should , at least earn minimum wage. There are days/nights where the servers earn only a bare minimum. Not much earned when it is a slow day. And if they are in an area that is very family oriented, the holidays are a nightmare for them because the business the would usually receive, stays home.

Let us look at school administrators wages, or doctors, or even other professions, they make big paychecks and are able to take home enough (sometimes) to feed their families. Why shouldn't a young lady who is a single parent, be able to do the same? Why not let her earn at least minimum wage, and also take home what she has earned for being good to people, and providing a professional service?

I know that if they were able to do so, good service would increase, and it would benefit corporations nation wide. I know some of those corporations would shudder to think they would have to come up with more wages, this I say to them: You spend millions on advertising and promotions, take that and invest it into a good employee that everyone will discuss in a positive way, and you have just built upon the stone for future business. I offer a view, seeing first hand as an Assistant Manager at a local restarunt that I used to work at, seeing several servers working very hard to earn enough to survive.

I know that for some businesses it would be difficult to cover the wages, but the long term effect of paying a wage, is a far better outlook than having high turnover and bumbling service.
