Every year I make a concerted effort to find cool, hip and lovable things for my niece. This year is no exception and between her "must-haves" and my own imagination, I have found several items that could make you "supercool" too.

Every few years I buy a super soft, super comfortable robe. This is always a huge hit and is often worn out by the next year. Soft pajama's have always been well-received also. Some great ones can be found at Aeropostale or Aeropostale.com.

For something more expensive, an IPod Nano could definitely make your home a happier place. You can get one in almost any color. The new Nano with video capability (3rd generation) can be found on Amazon.com for around $150 for 4 GB or $190 for an 8 GB. Nano's without video are considered 2nd generation. A 4 GB is around $150 and an 8 GB is around $250. These can be found on the Apple website as well, but they will be a little more expensive. With this, your teen can bee-bop until her heart's content - quietly.

Quiz books seem to be a big hit as well. Two of my favorites are from the "Klutz" line, "It's All About Me Personality Quizzes for You and Your Friends" and "Me and My Friends A Book of Us". You can find them at Barnes and Noble or on Amazon.com. These books have all sorts of quizzes for your teen and her best friends. There are also places for her to store letters, write and think.

If she likes to get out of the house, you could make her an appointment at the local spa for a manicure and pedicure with her friends. I am sure she would love the pampering. You could even pamper yourself while you're at it.

After her relaxing spa session she would be all set to go see a concert with her friends. Concert tickets to a group popular with the younger set, such as The Jonas Brothers might be a big hit. If you got her an inexpensive digital camera to take pictures she could even record her momentous event. Remember to get an extra ticket or two for her best friend(s) and perhaps even yourself.

A final couple of thoughts could be to give her a couple of passes to get out of her most despised chores, a lesson to something she has always wanted to do like horse-back riding or ballet, gift cards to Claire's (jewelry), Hollister (clothes) or Aeropostale (clothes). A fun idea could also be the Leapfrog Fly Fusion Pentop Computer. It is a computer in a pen that can recognize and remember what you write and can help your teen with their math, reading, or even to learn a new language. Fusion Pens are sold on Amazon.com for $79.99 along with books to help her learn Spanish and how to write better; there is even a book of brain teasers. Finally, for girls who love makeup, lip gloss and nail polish, there is E.L.F. (eyes, lips, face). This site will let you pick a little carrying case and fill it with lip gloss, powder, eye shadow, nail polish etc. for only $1 each. This is a great idea and one I am using find it at eyeslipsface.com.
