There are two main reasons for people to wear eyeglasses: to look good, or to adjust their vision. For most however, it is a combination of both. The world is progressing where there is an increasing number of four-eyed citizens (two eyes and two lens such as myself), and there is no lack of need for eye-ware.
Eyeglasses is a god-saving invention for mankind, it being the closest solution to attaining "perfect vision". As opposed to what most people think however, you do not have spend a lifesaving amount on eyeglasses. There are many ways to save on eyeglasses, so here is to get you started on thinking.
1.) Choosing the correct eyeglasses:
How many times have you heard of people complaining that their eyeglasses do not fit or look good on them after some time? This is so when people buy eyeglasses without knowing much about themselves.
Activity. What is the nature of activity you are in when wearing your eyeglasses? Rough sports would require glasses having higher strength compared to those worn for office work. You might also want to consider sports goggles for the earlier.
Face shape and coloring. When selecting and trying on eyeglasses, aim for those that contrast with your face shape. Your skin texture, hair and eye colors also affect the color of the frame that best suits you.
2.) Shopping around:
With so many opticians and retail shops for eye-ware, you would do well in a bit of price comparison. Instead of bundling up for a package of eye-check and eyeglasses, why not separate by getting a prescription from your optician and frames from elsewhere instead? The Internet is a good watch for affordable frames or even branded frames at bargain prices.
2.) Eyeglasses Type:
Branded VS non-branded. If you are looking to save some dough, go for the lesser known brands. Paying more for the brand name is usually not practicable for just everyday usage.
Framed VS frameless. Contrary to what many people, frameless eyeglasses are actually more expensive than framed glasses even after including the cost of the frame for the latter. This is due to the process of manufacturing and making sure that the glasses fit properly for frameless ones. Frameless eyeglasses are more susceptible to damage as well if you are not a careful person.
Material. Plastic frames are cost-effective and much lighter than metal ones. Stainless steel is the most popular choice for metal frames since it is lasting. Titanium is much stronger, but considerably more expensive as well. Flexon are unique
