I believe that steroids should be allowed in sports. If a player wants to put something into their body, they are only putting themselves at risk. That being said, I also believe that if a player chooses to use steroids, the amount of steroids that they put into their bodies and the health of the players in general should be strictly monitored by an unconcerned, outside agency.
Also, I think that there should be a steroid class. A lot of sports have classes dividing players into groups that compete against each other such as the weight classes in boxing. I think it would a better idea to create a class specifically for players who have chosen to use steroids.
This would mean that if they so chose to use steroids, that they could still compete, only against other players who were also on steroids. Today, when someone is found to be using steroids, all their past victories are suddenly suspect. Would they have won if they were not using steroids? The players are treated like criminals and there is talk about fines or prison time, which to me is absolutely ridiculous. Aren't the prisons already over-crowded by people who have committed actual crimes?
If there was a class for steroid users, people would know exactly who was using steroids and the players using steroids would be competing against each other so the fight would be even.
