Ms. Winfrey appears to be saying racism in America is acceptable by
supporting and endorsing presidential candidate, Barack Obama, whose
membership in the Congressional Black Caucus seems to mandate him to
advance the interest of one ethnic group over another ethnic group in
America?
Right or wrong, that is Ms. Winfrey's right as an American even though it
goes against the image she presents on TV each day as a person for all people.
Will her celebrity power and her millions of dollars be enough to propel
Barack Obama into the Whitehouse? Or will America see past this celebrity
endorsement to elect a president whose public actions truly demonstrate he
or she is really for all people that make up the uniqueness and strength of
America?
Is she backing racism in its purest form?
Apparently Ms. Winfrey agrees with Barack Obama that racism is just and
acceptable in America by not denouncing Missouri Democratic Representative
William Lacy Clay's statement below as referenced in Wikipedia and rescinding
his membership in the Congressional Black Caucus.
'Democratic Representative William Lacy Clay from Missouri is quoted as
saying "Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer. He's white and the
Caucus is black. It's time to move on. We have racial policies to pursue and
we are pursuing them, as Mr. Cohen has learned. It's an unwritten rule. It's
understood."
Rep. Cohen issued this response, "It's their caucus and they do things their
way. You don't force your way in."
Addressing Rep. Cohen's complaint further about not being admitted, Democrat
Representative William Lacy Clay from Missouri issued an official statement
from his office:
"Quite simply, Rep. Cohen will have to accept what the rest of the country
will have to accept - there has been an unofficial Congressional White Caucus
for over 200 years, and now it's our turn to say who can join 'the club.' He
does not, and cannot, meet the membership criteria, unless he can change his
skin color. Primarily, we are concerned with the needs and concerns of the
black population, and we will not allow white America to infringe on those
objectives."'
Does this mean that, behind Oprah's dazzle and sincerity seen by America and
the world each day on TV, she really goes home a closet racist at the end of
the day?
Backing a candidate for President of the United States who is a member of
the Congressional Black Caucus seems to paint a very different picture of Ms.
Winfrey from the one you see on TV each day.
Instead of speaking out against this racism from
