Until I began my research for this article, the only country site I visited was the official website for the Country Music Television channel, http://www.cmt.com. There is a reason for that since it is, in my opinion, the most comprehensive of the choices available. If you want to look at a bio of a particular artist, see their latest releases or check their discographies, you can find everyone at cmt.com. The people at CMT will keep you up to date with the latest news about your favorite artists, old and new, and treat you to the latest videos. There are blogs and TV listings and show dates. Yes, CMT is a one-stop shopping kind of place for country music enthusiasts.

While I was surfing the web in preparation for this article, I found some new places that I know I will be visiting again. One of these is the official website for the Great American Country television channel, http://www.gac.com. Much like cmt.com, GAC is easy to navigate and is loaded with information. They each highlight different artists so visit both to get in on the latest music scene.

If you are looking for lists, statistics, and links to other sites, http://www.countrymusic.about. com, is the place for you. You can find almost any bit of information you are searching for on this site. If you need an album recommendation or if you are looking for that perfect gift for the country music lover in your life, about.com has it for you. If you ever wondered who the top star was in any given year or who is on the list of the best country songs of all-time, about.com, is your best source. This website doesn't offer the glitz of a cmt.com or gac.com but you could spend a week-end browsing the site and find you still have more to learn.

Those are my three main recommendations for country music websites. However, I did find one more that I think is worth mentioning. Women Of Country at http://www.womenofcountry.com is just what the name implies, a website devoted to the women of country music. They provide everything from in depth interviews and biographies to wallpaper downloads of your favorite female country star. It is a small site but one that you should add to your bookmarks of favorite country music websites.

Don't forget that most country music artists have their own websites. The address is most likely their name so all you need to do is Google your favorite star and there it will be.

I stumbled upon many other sites during my search. With the suggestions above, I hope I have given you a place in which to begin your search.
