It was not that long ago that finding fly fishing gear was a very difficult task. Unless you happened to live very close to a fly shop, or a local Orvis shop, you had to travel great distances to secure tackle, or restock your fly box. Now, however, it is quite easy to hop online, and order anything that you might need, or want for your upcoming fly fishing trip. Here are a few online stores for purchasing fly fishing gear:
Hook and Hackle (www.hookhack.com). Hook and Hackle is a great online store, because they have all the fly fishing and fly tying materials you will need. They also carry rod building supplies. This store has all that you need for every aspect of the fly fishing experience. Build your own rod, tie your own flies, build your own leaders, and then fish to your heart's content. There is nothing much more fulfilling than catching fish on equipment you have built yourself, on flies you tied yourself! This shop also carries such fishing equipment as waders, boots, and tools. Sign up for the email list, and you will receive frequent coupons, which will save you a considerable amount of money over time!
The Fly Shop (http://store.theflyshop.com/catalog/). The Fly Shop is another great online shop that provides all the fly fishing gear you will need. This is a well organized site, which is easy to browse. Whatever you are searching for can be easily found with the Quick Search feature. If you are buying for someone else, there is also a gift card that can be purchased in any denomination.
Cabela's (www.cabelas.com). Cabela's is a great place to go for any kind of fishing tackle, but they have developed a great fly fishing department. They have common brand name equipment, but also have their own line of equipment. Their fly rod lines are very reasonably priced, and are of very good quality. Most of their fly rods over $125 are backed by a 25 year warranty. Gift cards are also available from this retailer.
Bass Pro Shops (www.basspro.com). Bass Pro Shops also has built a reputation for a good place to buy fishing gear. They have had a mail order business for years, but have expanded into local stores, as well as web stores. The selection at Bass Pro is very good, but they do not have the same kind of warranty as Cabela's on their own brand merchandise.
Orvis (www.orvis.com). Orvis is probably the most well known fly shop in the world. You can find just about anything that you want, from rods and reels to
