Walden University was founded in 1970 and designed to assist working, adult students to complete unfinished degrees or make themselves more marketable within their industries by expanding their academic knowledge in their fields.
Walden offers students located across the nation the opportunity to learn and work towards achieving their degrees in various areas of specialization. Walden offers various degree programs including bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
Walden offers degrees in areas such as Education, Human Services, Management, Nursing, Public Administration, Psychology, and Public Health. Walden University offers a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) for experienced teachers and administrators. Ph.D. programs are available for Education, Human Services, Applied Management and Decision Services, Public Policy and Administration, Psychology, Health Services, and Public Health. Walden's Master degree programs include Master of Science (M.S.) in Education, Master of Business Administration (MBA), M.S. in Nursing, Master of Public Administration (M.P.A), M.S. in Psychology, M.S. in Mental Health Counseling, and Master of Public Health (M.P.H). Walden also offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration.
In addition to their various degree programs, Walden University also offers its students a variety of other programs which include a Teacher Preparation Program and a Post-Doctoral Psychology Certificate program. The Walden University Teacher Preparation Program is an accelerated track with specializations in early childhood education or special education. Although students must have already achieved a bachelor's degree in order to enroll in this program, this state approved preparation program also offers an optional Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T) degree, which will undoubtedly help prospective teachers become much more marketable and stand out against their competitors. The Post-Doctoral Psychology Certificates available through Walden University is designed for individuals who have already obtained a Ph.D. in Psychology but want to expand their knowledge. This is one of the only online certificate programs in the field.
