Car rental companies are renowned for including hidden fees in their rental prices. While they may charge $19 a day for a rental, they can add on a number of charges to this:

Fee for under 25yr old driver = at least $25 per day

Insurance = they offer plans designed to confuse and scare you into buying more than you need. Most credit card plans will cover the insurance on a car rental. Check with your credit card before renting.

Mileage = many do not offer unlimited miles, but charge you for how far you drive, make sure to figure this out before you take off for Mexico!

Gas = if you do not return the car with a full tank they charge you an incredible amount to refill it.

Returning to a different store = if you drop the car off at a different location, they can charge you an insane amount.

Late fees = they will charge you either the amount for a full day, or a pro-rated amount for returning the car late.

Taxes = they don't just add taxes on the basic price, but on all of the above mentioned charges, so that can get unbelievably high.

Watch out for all these things!
