I am the memory of a name;
A shadow of a face.
Boldly within your dreams I dance;
I cannot leave that place.
I will always be with you,
But I you cannot see;
Except when you are sleeping
And deep among your dreams.
We speak of many things there,
And I shall never roam.
I guard you from your fears there;
Where I have made my home.
I love to sit beside you;
But cannot in the day.
For I am but a shadow
And must then slip away.
When you are here I'm happy;

And I am quite content here;
Where love is evergreen.
I only dwell in dreamland;
I cannot leave that place.
For I am but a memory;
The shadow of a face.
