If you love to make jewelry, especially earrings, then here is a great idea for something "totally different!"

At your local hobby store or hardware store, you can usually get those tiny wooden shape pieces for craft projects. Pick up a couple of pieces, I liked the oblong shaped ones,about 1/2 inch long, it was easier to work with, and look good from your ears.

Drill a tiny hole at the top of your piece, and then paint or get an artistic person to paint a very tiny scene, shape, abstract, whatever you want.. I painted tiny penguins on mine.

Now coat the wooden piece, with varathane or a product like "triple thick gloss" which with one coat, looks like you have put on 10, and is a brilliant gloss with no brush strokes, just make sure to keep the hole open and free of the gloss, put a needle or pin through while the gloss is drying.

Now fit the ring through the tiny hole at the top and attach to your earrings.

I like this, because it is "wearable art" as each piece will be an original, and the wooden pieces are lightweight, so as not to bother your ears. I have had lots of people ask me about them, and I love to paint very tiny.

If tiny painting is not your thing, get someone who can, it will be worth it, and you will have a pair of fabulous earrings, and a work of art.
