He goes to A.A. meetings
and hunches over white cups
of black coffee
Still slides into bars
like they're comfortable slippers
and waves a waitress over
"Black, please"
Men and women dance, sing karaoke off-key,
throw up in bathrooms, exchange numbers
He wraps his hands around coffee cups
feeling the warmth
